Luke begins the first narrative of his Gospel focusing on the back story of John the Baptist and the home in which he was raised. His parents, Zacharias and Elizabeth, were righteous before God, and obeyed His commands, and yet still had a major trial in that Elizabeth was barren. But, one day, the angel Gabriel visited and proclaimed that John would be born who would become the forerunner to Christ.
